Ohio has allowed permitless concealed carry since June 13, 2022 for qualifying adults 21 and older. The concealed handgun license is still issued by county sheriffs, usually the sheriff where you live or in an adjoining county, and requires eight hours of training with live fire and a written test. The license runs five years and helps with travel to other states. Ohio also requires you to notify a law enforcement officer that you are carrying if asked, so read the Attorney General's manual before you carry.

Archery is open from late September into early February. Legal implements include shotguns, muzzleloaders, handguns of .357 Magnum or larger with a five-inch barrel, and rifles chambered for straight-walled cartridges from .357 to .50 caliber. Bottleneck rifle cartridges are not legal for deer. Franklin and Hamilton counties both carry a four-deer bag limit.
